October update
At the end of September we experienced a beautiful and moving surprise: the unveiling of the icon of St. Iakovos of Evia in the narthex, donated by the daughters of Kathy Chrysathis—Antonia, Sandra, and Annetta—together with their families. The moment was especially touching as Kathy and her family shared a close personal relationship with St. Iakovos from her childhood. The unveiling was a reminder of how the saints continue to be living presences among us, drawing us closer to Christ and to one another.
We are also delighted to share that after our recent appeal, a donor has generously stepped forward to sponsor the icon of “Christ and the Samaritan Woman at the Well.” This scene, which proclaims Christ as the source of Living Water, will be a striking reminder of the Gospel’s call to thirst for God and the Samaritan woman's missionary activity when she told her city about finding the Messiah.
Looking ahead, we are now seeking a donor—or a group of donors—to sponsor one of the larger icons planned for the program: “The Wedding at Cana.” This icon depicts the first miracle of our Lord, when He transformed water into wine and revealed. We have been blessed to see many of our families married at Holy Trinity. This icon could serve as a beautiful blessing for a marriage, or as a way to honor Christ for the help and grace He has given in your own marriage.
Through these gifts, our parish is weaving together faith, memory, and beauty for future generations. We thank all of our donors for their generosity, vision, and love for our church.
“This is not just a project—it is a spiritual journey, a community effort, and a profound way to leave your mark on Holy Trinity.”
In 2025 and 2026, we are embarking on the completion of Holy Trinity’s magnificent mosaic iconography. This final phase will adorn our church with awe-inspiring scenes from the life and miracles of our Lord Jesus Christ, along with icons of contemporary saints from Greece, San Francisco, and beyond.
This work is being led by mosaicist Haris Mulla, a native of Greece who calls San Francisco home and is a member of our parish. Haris has adorned churches across Greece and now the United States, and he will also be offering hands-on mosaic classes for parishioners, allowing you to actively participate in the beautification of our church. We are seeking families, individuals, and groups to come forward in support of completing this vision. Your generosity can bring this iconography to life:
Sponsor a Saint – $18,000
Sponsor a Scene – $38,000
Pledges can be paid over time, and shared sponsorship is welcome. Donors may choose their inscription in either Greek or English, ensuring that your family’s offering is honored in the language that speaks to your heart.
To sponsor an icon, participate in the mosaic classes, or learn more about our goals, please reach out to Fr. Nicholas(fr.nmetrakos@holytrinitysf.org).
